Weymouth Center for Arts & Humanities offers a variety of volunteer service opportunities for every age, experience level, and skill set. Whether you commit to a short-term event or a long-term project, your help is greatly appreciated.

Women of Weymouth

For decades, the Women of Weymouth have gathered monthly to enjoy informative programs and plan activities for the Weymouth membership in order to raise funds to care for the Boyd House. This work continues in full measure today.

Membership is open to all women who are members of Weymouth in good standing. Monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month: January-May and September-November.

Meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee, followed by a short business meeting, and conclude with a guest speaker. Guests are most welcome and meetings are free and open to the public, except of the final meeting of the year in May.  Women in this group are from all over and bring a great variety of interests and expertise, insight and laughter to all gatherings!

Dirt Gardeners

Weymouth Dirt Gardeners are a group of volunteers who meet weekly year-round to maintain our stately gardens and grounds for the whole community to enjoy, and make Weymouth a destination for visitors statewide. Regular activities include mild-moderate outdoor physical labor and maintenance. You do not need a green thumb to start, but we guarantee that you’ll have one after working with some of this area’s most dedicated gardeners! Dirt Gardeners gather Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 am-12 pm. Come grow with us!

Docents

Volunteer to give tours of our house and grounds. Help us share our beautiful house, gardens, and grounds, with our visitors. We will train you. Hours are flexible.

Ushers

Volunteer to usher at our events. We need help greeting guests, taking tickets, and assisting people to their seats. As an usher at an event, you will see the show for free.

Archivists

Are you a skilled volunteer with a special area of expertise like archivists who understand the challenges of rare and delicate books? Volunteer to help us keep our historical documents organized and up to date.

Membership

Weymouth Memberships are available starting at $50.

We are happy to offer our members a number of benefits and perks.

Membership Benefits:

  • Discounted tickets to Weymouth events, art, music, cultural and social events.
  • Discounts on purchases from our local business partners, including The Country Bookshop and Southern Whey.

Membership Levels:

  • Individual: $50
  • Household (2 adults and children under 12): $75

*$10 discount available to active duty military, first responders, teachers and students

Weymouth Support Helps

  • Preserve the historic Boyd House—home to the N.C. Literary Hall of Fame, a Writers-in-Residence program, and venue for a variety of literary, arts, and music events.
  • Ensure that our gardens and grounds remain one of the finest parks in the region, a gateway to one of the oldest longleaf pine forests, and open for all to enjoy.
  • Launch exciting new initiatives that serve our community, such as Weymouth Equestrians, an afterschool program celebrating Weymouth’s equestrian heritage that will eliminate barriers to participation in equestrian care and riding for all young people.
