Marc Benard is pleased to be singing some of the great Gershwin songs this evening. Prior to receiving his medical degree in the late 1970’s he spent several years professionally in musical theater in NYC, as well as in repertory with the Light Opera of Manhattan. His resume includes productions of Kismet, Grease, Man of La Mancha, Hello Dolly, The Most Happy Fella, and others. He’s also performed several concerts in Los Angeles, with a repertoire that spans musical theater and the American songbook. Since moving to Southern Pines with his family almost two years ago he’s performed locally in productions of An Evening of Andrew Lloyd Weber, Carousel and Amahl and the Night Visitors.
In addition to his ongoing duties as Executive Director of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine, Mr. Benard is Co-Director of the Baja Project for Crippled Children/Operation Footprint, and lectures nationally in pediatric and adult biomechanics and surgery. Currently a proud member of the Southern Pines Rotary Club, he has also served as Director of International Service and Disaster Relief for Rotary International’s District 5280, in Los Angeles.
