The 70th year of the Southern Pines Garden Club Tour takes place for only the second time on a Saturday, April 14, 2018, in beautiful Moore County, NC. Unlike any other home tour, the homes are resplendent with flower arrangements created by the garden club members. Take an entire day to experience the six private homes and remarkable gardens, our renowned Sandhills Community College gardens, two historic properties, tour the expansive greenhouses of Pinehurst Resort a Sandhills Community College and Weymouth Center community plant sales and discounts at local restaurants.
The home tour includes the following homes:
“Loblolly,” at 140 N. Valley Road in Southern Pines, designed for Helen Boyd Dull, a founder of the garden club and a cousin of the Boyds of The Campbell House. Designed by famous architect Aymar Embury who is most well known for enduring contributions to NYC architecture & open spaces in the early 1900’s such as The Central Park Zoo.
The Saulnier Home at 880 Massachusetts Avenue in Southern Pines, a rare home designed by Alfred B. Yeomans, nationally renowned landscape architect who was instrumental in shaping the “Weymouth” neighborhood in the late 1800’s with home and landscape design.
Liscombe Lodge at 75 Linden Road in Pinehurst, which was for many years the home of George Marshall, proponent of The Marshall Plan and winner of the 1953 Nobel Peace Prize.
