ENSEMBLE VERMILLIAN IN RECITAL
TICKETS are available at the Weymouth Center office 10am-2pm, Monday-Friday or at the door on the day of the performance:
Barbara Blaker Krumdieck, Cello
David Wilson, Violin
Ensemble Vermillian explores less-familiar repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries and makes it their own through transcription for their particular instruments. The very special group chemistry that these players create together makes for compelling performances, both for the audience and the performers. The combination of music research and vibrant performance are what make Ensemble Vermillian stand out from the crowd.
They have been performing and recording since 2003. Sisters Frances Blaker (recorder) and Barbara Blaker Krumdieck (Baroque cello) with violinist David Wilson form the core of the ensemble, expanding it to include other instruments depending on repertoire. The basso continuo consists of various combinations of harpsichord, lute/theorbo, baroque guitar, and organ.
The group has released two CD recordings focusing on Buxtehude’s Opus I sonatas and other works by German 17th century composers. Two more recordings, one of Italian 17th music and one of English 17th music focusing on Henry Purcell, are in the production process.
